What a difference

Managed to cram in some quality time on the Spit, and am very happy with my little bit of progress.
First up the clutch, which has had an issue with proper engagement  when the car was warmed up. I bought a cheap new master cylinder of ebay, which has a slightly larger bore than the original which I fitted along with a new braided clutch hose.

I now have a fully operational clutch, the only issue being a slightly harder pedal.
In hindsight I think the problem with my previous set up was a clutch pipe which had to many sharp bends in it (it looked nice though) where as the new braided hose has no bends or kinks at all. I might try reverting back to my original master cylinder and see if I can get a softer feel and retain the original look.
Next up I decided to try a richer set of needles in the carbs to cure the mixture problems I had. I bunged in the AAO needles (replacing the standard BO needles) and the car is transformed! The mixture at idle is now much more acceptable and there is enough fuel at higher revs as well. I think there is a little more to gain with some more tweaking but this will be a project for next season once the megajolt has been fitted.
So with the car running beautifully I gave it a good clean in readiness for an end of season club run on Sunday.
I had a great day out Sunday enjoying lots of smaller roads along with fellow enthusiasts.. a perfect end to a driving season (which I have mostly missed out on).
